About Cassandra
Hello and Welcome! I’m Cassandra and I live in the south suburbs of Chicago with my husband, Max, and our young Pomeranian, Aoku (ow-koo).
I’m incredibly passionate about all things old; nothing is quite like vintage! For me, it’s all about the story of why a piece was made and the life it lived before it came to “be” with me . Being able to recycle and reuse items and give them another round of life is incredibly important to me as well.
For years (legit almost two decades now) I’ve wanted a single space of my own to share my passions, creative outlets, and endeavors. The time is now and this is the place.
In my spare time I run an online vintage and antiques business called The Curious Aesthetic. On occasion you may find me popping up at a local market selling vintage homewares, accessories, clothing, and jewelry.
This space will serve as the main “hub” of my online presence. You can find and follow me on Instagram and YouTube. Be sure to subscribe to my monthly newsletter as well where I share special vintage finds, epic hauls, and what markets I’ll be popping up at.

How did you get started selling vintage?
I grew up around antiques. My parents were avid collectors and we would spend long weekends road-tripping around the midwest into the southeast hitting every garage sale, antique mall and auction that time would allow. I can say with absolute confidence I fell in love with “the hunt” at a young age. In my early 20’s I became obsessed thrifting vintage clothing and quickly amassed a collection that was too big to store off-season goods. That’s when I opened an account on eBay. A few years ago I opened an Etsy store as well. I’ve quickly progressed from casually selling vintage online to a full-fledged business with my own online commerce and will have pop-ups at curated markets around Chicagoland.

Where do you find your vintage items?
Mostly thrift stores and the occasional estate sale.
How do you know if something is vintage?
With education and time. Thanks to my parents I’ve been around antiques for over 25 years and by now I can mostly “just tell.” However, there’s some incredible replicas out there! Throughout my website you can find information on authenticating items .
